Advancing International Education in Pennsylvania
For over 50 years, the Pennsylvania Council for International Education (PACIE) has worked to strengthen international education in the Commonwealth. Established in 1969 by a group of Pennsylvania colleges and universities in order to advocate for international education and to support collaborative projects, PACIE has also provided important professional development and networking opportunities to college and university faculty, administrators and students. Membership was extended in 2004 to K-12 teachers and administrators involved in international education, and PACIE actively promotes linkages between K-12 and tertiary institutions.

Global Ready Graduates for Pennsylvania’s Future.
PACIE’s Guiding Beliefs
Increasing the global competence of Pennsylvania K-20 students will produce graduates who can compete and succeed in a global marketplace.
K-20 schools that require global competency skills will graduate students poised to be full participants in a global society.
Pennsylvania educators need to have an awareness of, and skills necessary, to teach global competence embedded in their respective content areas.
Developing a partnership with state government builds a shared belief as well as establishes PACIE as a leader in international education.
A broad and diverse member base assists in recognition of PACIE as the premier resource for global education initiatives.
We must increase global experience opportunities for K-20 students and educators and expand international student presence in Pennsylvania schools to create true global citizens.
